Last night we had the 2nd attempt to opening night of MBFF on a Tuesday... it didn't quite have the same vibe as the first night but I was still optimistic. The Wintergarden Runway Lounge did not disappoint.. still amazing cocktails and food, however when it came to the runway show i was very underwhelmed! I just felt a little bored. I know it's only fashion festival and not fashion week but i just felt like i wasn't seeing anything new and interesting. Also I'm not sure what was going on with the Chanel esque wigs with the pony tails out the back at Eastern Pearson i don't think it really worked with the Eastern Pearson look, as it left me feeling confused.. but not in a good way.
Anyway.. i snapped some of the looks i liked from each designer that interested me slightly.
Stay tuned for my next post with some amazing designs from the graduates show i went to tonight!! Let's just say i was overwhelmed at the talent, and am super excited to share their collections with you!

Everything was off to a great start... sipping delicious ciroc cocktails in the Wintergarden Runway Lounge and trying not to smear red lipstick all over my face while eating canapés... note i was successful!!! (p.s the incredible muscular back in the 2nd photo belongs to Sally Pearson... didn't even realise till i was going through all of my photos) Then we all wondered off to the marquee to take our seats for the first show of the night, only to be evacuated out of the tent due to some safety issues. So i don't have much to share from the first night except some pre show snaps... Stay tuned for the rescheduled show on Tuesday night!

(A LITTLE INSPIRATION FROM SOME FELLOW BRISBANE BLOGGERS: SOCIAL EMISSIONS, INSIDE IN INSIDE OUT, OPINION SLAVE, KONSTANTINOS)
Yes it's all about Brisbane leading up to the fashion festival... so here is another little something something that might peak your interests. Westfield Chermside is holding a street style competition!! So all you fabulous Brisbane folk read the details below and get your asses down to Chermside next week!!
Calling all fashion forward Brisbanites: Westfield Chermside is on the hunt for the city’s undiscovered stars of street style. If you aren’t afraid to try tricky trends, love to mix and match and have a unique sense of personal style, you could be one of a handful of shoppers selected to compete in the centre’s inaugural Project: Street Style challenge.
Stylish shoppers of all ages are invited to attend one of three open casting sessions held at the centre’s Street Style Studio on Thursday 23 and Saturday 25 August, where they will be snapped by a professional photographer in their favourite off duty look. The top five will be selected to strut their stuff in an exclusive runway show for Brisbane’s fashion elite and compete for a covetable $1000 spring summer wardrobe.
Westfield Chermside Stylist Christie Nicolaides said the Project: Street Style challenge is about celebrating the way in which fashion is influenced by the people around us as much as it is by catwalks and glossy magazines.
“The street style phenomenon has exploded since blogs like The Sartorialist and Jak & Jil have made it part of popular culture – and with good reason. So often, our real fashion muses are not models on a catwalk but the people we see around us every day. For many of us, inspiration to try out something new comes from seeing it on someone we can relate to,” Ms Nicolaides said.
“This campaign is about celebrating the fashion forward men and women who drive street style and inspire us all. Whatever your age or background, if you’ve got a strong sense of personal style and love experimenting with fashion, we want to hear from you.”
Men and women of all ages are invited to enter by attending one of the open casting sessions at Westfield Chermside’s Street Style Studio, located outside Roger David. For those unable to attend the live castings, fashionistas can also enter online by submitting a picture of themselves in a favourite outfit and emailing it to email@example.com along with name, address and contact number before midnight on Sunday 26 August.
What: Street Style Studio
When: Thursday 23 August & Saturday 25 August
11am – 2pm pm daily
5.30pm-9pm Thursday evening

Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival is approaching and in the lead up i had the pleasure of tasting the official cocktail for the event ... CÎROC Sparkling Cosmo, at PUBLIC in the city. The CÎROC Sparkling Cosmo is a twist on the original cosmo... it still has the sex and the city vibe with its girly colour, but tastes better! I'm looking forward to downing a few of these at the fashion festival!.
If you won't be attending Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival, try out the cocktail yourself at home... All you need is:
-10ml Grand Marnier
-10ml lime juice
-40ml cranberry juice
-Sparkling wine to top
- Shake first four ingredients with ice and strain into a flute.
- Garnish the glass with a lemon or orange zest twist.
- Note: use a lemon garnish if the sparkling wine is quite sweet.
